Just when I think Donald Trump has
said something that will end his run for President of the United States, his
poll numbers rise. If they do not rise,
they appear unaffected by the statements he had made. This has led me to question what we have all
become so used to assuming. How can a candidate
say non-politically correct statements, or even offensive statements to some,
and seem to escape with the upper hand? In
the years past, we have saw candidates for President who have said things that
have often led to their declining poll numbers, and ultimately ending their run
for office. However, in this cycle, we
are beginning to see the opposite, enter Donald Trump.
Most of us are familiar with the
term “the perfect storm”, so let me take that term and run with it for a moment. I believe “The Donald” has entered the race
for President during the perfect storm, or at least a point of the storm where
all the cards are in his favor. So many
Americans, including myself are absolutely fed up with political
correctness. It has torn away at the
very fabric of society, slowing eating away at our rights under the
Constitution, while the majority of us felt as though there was nothing we
could do to stop it. Donald Trump has
tapped into that pipeline of anger and goes against anything and everything
that is politically correct. In doing
this, he is able to portray to Americans that he too is tired of it and will do
all he can to stop it. He has proved
this time and time again by doubling down on his statements after he has been confronted
about them. While he doubles down, other
candidates cater to the politically correct by asking them what they prefer
them to say. Donald Trump doesn’t care
what you want him to say, he says what is on his mind, and at the moment, that
just so happens to be what is on most other Americans mind as well.
Most of us too are tired of the current
administrations handling of so many situations, both in the homeland and in foreign
affairs. We sat back and watched as the
Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) passed without anyone knowing what was in it. Don’t believe me? Just ask Nancy Pelosi. We watched as the controversial trade deal
passed, and as the Iran nuclear negotiations transpired. All this while millions of illegals crossed
the border, Ferguson and Baltimore burned to the ground, cuts were made in
military spending, trillions added to the deficit, and ISIS grew by leaps and
bounds. We asked ourselves, “Who is
going to stop this? Who can we elect
that will attempt to alter all this wrongdoing?” Again, enter Donald Trump…
In the eighties Donald Trump
started speculating of a bid for the White House, then again in the nineties and
more recent, 2012. I can’t help but
wonder, is he too fed up? Did it finally
reach a point to where he too is tired of seeing the United States get torn
apart from the inside? Did he wait on
the perfect storm? If he had said some
of the things four years ago that he is saying now, he would have gotten
nowhere in his campaign. Being wealthy
was a negative for Mitt Romney four years ago, and he tried not to talk about
it. Trump on the other hand not only
embraces the fact he is wealthy, but flaunts it, leaving many Americans to
wonder if he could do the same with the Country and its assets?
Lastly, let me add in a valid point
on one of the attacks flying his way.
Many in the media, and now others seeking the highest office, are quick
to point out that Donald Trump was at one time a democrat. OH MY!!!!
“How can he be on your side? How
can he be a conservative when he was at one time a democrat?” Well, let me answer that…The democrat party
was much different then. They were nowhere
near as far left as they now are. My
grandfather was a democrat, and you know what else he was? A Southern Baptist Evangelist! He wasn’t for abortion in any way, and
believed in keeping the homeland secure and safe. He could care less about being politically
correct. He believed in a smaller
government and taking care of our allies such as Israel. He didn’t like handouts, fought for our
country during WWII and worked for everything he had. He believed in transparency and the
Constitution and condemned socialism. That’s
kind of a stark difference from the party as we know it today…As Ronald Reagan
once said after he became a Republican, “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party,
the Democratic Party left me.”
